Coaches

Aaron has 17 years of experience at both youth and HS levels. He was the Head Varsity coach for Pleasantville for 8 years and has been the varsity assistant for boys for 5 years. Coach Fichter runs camps for youth from 1st-8th grade during the summers as well. He has had over 350+ campers in the last 3 years for our 3v3 camp and skills camp.

Joe Butler has been the Indianola Basketball Association Commissioner since 2021. He has 7 years of coaching and developing competitive youth teams from 2nd-8th grade. He played for Bert Hanson and Ken Beane and was a part of Indianola’s 4A state title team in 2001.

Coach Phipps played at Central College and is in his 17th season of varsity coaching. He has been a Head Varsity Boys’ coach for Creston, North High, and Pleasantville high schools over a span of 7 years.

Trever was a 1000 point scorer in high school. He went on to play at DMACC and Graceland University. He coached at Kingdom Hoops and Michael Born basketball camps for many years. He is now serving as Pleasantville high school boys head freshman and assistant varsity coach.

Will played at Simpson College. He has been a college assistant, head varsity, head sophomore, head freshmen, & varsity assistant for both boys and girls. He also has 10+ years of youth experience to go with 20+ years of high school and college.

Nicci Whalen played basketball at Simpson College and then served as the Varsity Assistant and Head JV coach for 5 years before transitioning into her current role as a Professor and Department Chair in the Sport Science department. She is an Exercise Physiologist with knowledge in sport nutrition and performance training.

Andrew plays for Simpson College and will graduate in 2024. He has 3 years of experience coaching youth teams, high school teams, and running camps. As a player, he has received All A-R-C 2nd team honors and is a 4-year letter winner at Simpson.

Matt is currently the boys’ assistant head coach at Indianola. He has 5 years of experience (4 years at the varsity level and 1 at the junior college level). In HS he scored 1,820 points and was a 1st-team All-State selection. He played 2 years at North Iowa Area Community College after HS.

Allyson was the leading scorer on her high school’s state qualifying team her senior year. After high school, she played for 2 years at Simpson College, and then was a student assistant coach for 2 years. The past 3 years she has been the varsity assistant coach at Nevada High School and is currently the Pleasantville girls head coach.

Jeff currently serves as the varsity assistant for the Pleasantville girls basketball team. Jeff has 15 years of coaching experience with youth, JH, and varsity basketball.

Andrew was an all-conference player in the West Central Activities Conference his senior year of high school. Andrew is in his 2nd year with our club coaching. Last season he helped coach our 4th and 8th boys.

Rachel has 4+ years of coaching youth teams on the girls’ side. She has worked with girls ranging from 3rd-8th grade. Rachel is in her first year with our club and will help with 4th-8th girls.
